After running update on Ubuntu Desktop 13.10, there is something strangely wrong with the Dash search function, and it doesn’t work as before.
When I press the Super Key, Dash Search displayed. And I could open any applications by typing the applications name and press Enter. But, after running the update, the Launcher is empty, and it throws an error that says: “Sorry, there is nothing that matches your search”.
This is a bit annoying for me, and I find it bit difficult to open some applications. As you may know, We still can open the applications via command line if we know the actual name of an application, but that’s not that comfortable for all users.
During the update, It might remove the package name unity-scope-home. After, I installed this package back, the Dash search displays the applications as I wish.
sudo apt-get install unity-scope-home
Happy to have the Dash Search work back. 😉
Enjoy!
